BURNING DESIRE

In the "Burning Desire" project, I interweave the embodied liberation through a performance video featuring my original music tracks, accompanied by a series of large-scale mixed-media paintings.

These paintings´ compositions are guided by my bodily gestures, presenting subtle abstract portrayals of feminine body parts, accentuated by undulating, oceanic lines that echo the fluidity and freedom of movement. The pieces are layered with silk and wool in deep red hues, evoking the primal energy of Iceland's volcanic lava.

In the performance video, I draw upon my personal experiences growing up in a reserved Chinese cultural environment, where I was acutely aware of societal expectations and gender norms. The red wool threads featured in the video represent the restrictions, both external and internal, that I've carried with me throughout my life. As I began to set boundaries and pursue my own desires, I experienced a profound transformation. My time in Iceland, where I encountered strong, independent women and the raw power of nature, played a significant role in reshaping my worldview and awakening my inner strength.

By sharing my story through the "Burning Desire" project, I hope to inspire others to reflect on their own lives and consider the ways in which they, too, can break free from societal constraints and self-imposed limitations. As I assert my power and celebrate the raw, unapologetic nature of desire, I encourage viewers to connect with their innermost passions and embrace the essence of liberation. Through this celebration of the indomitable human spirit, I invite my audience to feel fully alive and in tune with their bodies, harnessing the transformative potential of unrestrained desire, and ultimately serving as a catalyst for personal transformation.
